The Team

Tribal is a partnership founded by Lance Trumble and Jack Matthews (Matthews Southwest). Tribal’s business has traditionally focussed on the development and redevelopment of industrial and office real estate in Canada.  Recently, Sylvie Lachance has joined Tribal as a third partner, bringing a wealth of expertise and information in the newly added retail class of investment to the portfolio.

Lance Trumble
Managing Director and Founding Partner

With over 30 years of real estate experience, Lance spent 14 years with Cushman Wakefield initially selling major redevelopment properties before becoming VP Investment Sales at the Canadian head office.  Lance then moved to serve as Managing Director Investment Banking at Scotia Capital Inc., to build and lead the real estate brokerage, advisory and debt activities of the real estate group in Scotia Capital.  Lance is a graduate of McMaster University with a BA in Economics.

John H (Jack) Matthews
Founding Partner and President, Matthews Southwest

Since purchasing Matthews Southwest in 1994, Jack continues to develop innovative quality commercial, industrial and residential projects in Canada, the United States and Mexico.  He has also established an international presence with Matthews Southwest EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa).  Jack has led the completion of many diverse projects including hotels, condominiums, offices, retail, residential and industrial space.  His experience and mastery of all aspects of development – from imagining to creating, acquiring the land, financing the deal, building the project, then holding or selling on completion – helping to create value at all stages in the process.

Sylvie Lachance
Managing Director and Partner

Sylvie is a commercial lawyer by training and she has spent over 30 years redeveloping the Canadian commercial real estate landscape.  A career starting a Provigo, lead her to an instrumental role as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at First Capital Realty, Canada’s largest neighbourhood shopping centre developer and operator.  For the past seven years as the Executive Vice President of Real Estate and Development for Sobey’s, Sylvie was responsible for the formulation and implementation of Sobey’s national real estate strategy.
